Acoustic Bands in Roanoke Virginia

Acoustic Bands in Roanoke Virginia

Playing in an acoustic band definitely has it's challenges.  When you are only one of two instruments total, you better have your game on.  The other fellow can only cover up so much.  Playing in the Rich and Andy band for the past seven years has been a great learning experience.  When we started, we knew nothing about this business and nor how to go about even getting started.  Acoustic bands in Roanoke Virginia at the time we few and far between and the demand for them was even less.  We have seen a nice increase in the demand for acoustic bands in Roanoke Virginia and we are happy to have been part of it.  We hope this continues and that the live music in Roanoke Virginia scene continues to grow and grow.

Live Music in Roanoke Virginia

Live Music in Roanoke Virginia:

Big news folks!  Tonight at 7pm we are going to meet with our record producer and his partner to be officially signed to their record label.  What does this mean for us?  As independent music artists we look at this opportunity as a hug stepping stone to a level of legitimacy that we have been working towards for seven years.  We will work with our record producer to record our first album of all original songs written by Andy Bishop and Andy will sing lead and play rhythm guitar.  Rich Bowels will be co-credited with musical arrangements on some of the songs and he will play lead guitar and sing backup.

We are excited to get started on this project which has been in the works for over two years.  Playing live music in Roanoke Virginia for us will take on a whole new meaning and this will be a new beginning for the Rich and Andy band.  Wish us luck and look for our album on iTunes, Google Play and other online sites.  We will also sell hard copies at all of our shows.  As of right now we are tentatively calling the album "Good Tunes and Good Times" and we will have an original song titled the same.

It's going to be a hard road but we are ready to get started!

Live Music in Roanoke Virginia

Live Music in Roanoke Virginia – the Rich and Andy Band

In the past few years the acoustic music scene in Roanoke Virginia has been steadily growing.  The music is now to a point where there are more options to choose from than there are outlets to showcase them.  The Rich and Andy band has always tried to find new ways to get the word out.  How to promote a band has always been a difficult issue for small groups.  Social media has an advantage but Facebook will only take you so far.  Rich and Andy work daily to fine tune their website www.RichAndAndy.com to make sure the content stays relevant.  Adding show schedules, weekly date highlights and band news are just a few of the new items added.

Rich and Andy have been playing live music in Roanoke Virginia since 2007 and one thing has remained the same.  People love to go out and have dinner and even invite some friends along.  What customers do not want is a loud obnoxious band playing music so loud that people can’t enjoy the evening or even have conversations.  Rich and Andy added a biography page that addresses this issue by stating their playing policy.  No loud music, no foul language and a family friendly, fun show.

Yes, live music in Roanoke Virginia has come a long way recently with the addition of acoustic acts like Rich and Andy and many others.  Let’s hope the trend continues so future entertainers have a chance to entertain us all.

Original Song

I have a new song written and we are starting to practice it and work out the kinks.  I heard a friend of mine say something this week that gave me the idea.  If you have ever heard the phrase "It's kinda like Missouri, you're gonna have to show me" then you might like this one.  It's a play on Missouri being "the show me state".  We look forward to seeing everybody on Friday, April 18th at 7 pm.  Email us for the location and details at richandandy@gmail.com.  See you soon!

Stage Lighting

Stage Lighting:

We are working to improve the look of our stage show by adding new LED lights.  We have had a light rack for a while but we recently combined that with a programmable lighting controller.  This controller gives us the ability to customize the colors and patterns.  We are definitely not looking for a wild looking effect, just something subtle.  In addition we have also added washout LED light panels for the back wall to give the stage a cool look of depth.  Now we can clearly see out music and equipment in even the darkest venue.

We hope to see you at a show soon!

Recording Studios: Groundfloor Studios

4-4-14

Last night we visited Groundfloor Studios to meet with their recording producer and engineer.  We had a chance to do some test recording just to get a feel for playing and singing in a recording booth and to better understand the process.  What we found out was we have a lot of work ahead of us.  The producer was extremely nice and wants to help get the best sound out of us as possible.  The whole experience was mind blowing for us.  We honestly never thought we would get to this point.  Even if this goes nowhere, we are going to have the time of our lives doing it!

Our plans are to record an album with all original songs written by Andy.  The Rich and Andy acoustic sound will be supplemented by bass and light percussion.  Our hopes is to make a recording that sounds full and energetic and fun to listen to.  The songs we are recording are all about us and what we like and experience in life.  So far we have "Start Living My Life", "Hangin' at the Lake", Summer's Leavin;", "Drinkin' Beer in the Sun", "An Island in the Sun" and "Life on the Tiki Deck".  Andy is currently writing about three more songs that we hope to put on the album.

We will update as more unfolds but it looks like the official signing to the record label will take place in early May and shortly followed by a press release and promoting by the record label.  We hope to have the album recorded and mastered by late May and ready for sale on-line and at our shows starting in early June.  The record label is even going to promote us in print, TV and radio..... we may actually get to have a song played on some radio station somewhere... LOL

Thank to everybody for all the support and keep listening!!!
